My Best Creation Yet

The blog has been a little slow lately because I have been super distracted working on baking my best creation yet—a baby girl! Now that she's due any day, I wanted to officially sign off of the blog only for a bit while our world changes forever and God graces us with a precious little life.

Father's Day Gift Guide

Dad's are about impossible to buy for and with Father's Day just around the corner (June 15), I thought I'd put together a Father's Day Gift Guide that any dad would be crazy not to adore. Special thanks to Jacobs for helping me decide on these awesome man-friendly gifts.

Strawberry Shortcake Cake and A 30th Birthday Girl

This past weekend we celebrated one of my closest girlfriend's 30th birthday. She invited us all over for dinner (because that's what we do when we get old ... we throw ourselves dinner parties) and I convinced her to let me bake her birthday cake. She requested a Strawberry Shortcake but not with shortcake (shortbread) but with cake cake ... So, a Strawberry Shortcake Cake? I was happy to invent something new—always up for  a good challenge.

Stay-cation at Leiper's Fork's Dreamy Storybook Cottage

Last weekend we got to take a little "stay-cation" down to Leiper's Fork and enjoyed the cutest inn ever—Storybook Cottage. Perfectly named, this tiny cottage tucked in the woods of the rolling hills of Williamson County is more like Goldilocks' hide-away than a vacation rental. We went for one night and invited my parents up for dinner ... more about that later. First, a tour.

A Wedding to Remember

Today marks Jacobs and my two year wedding anniversary. What a happy two years it has been! It's always so fun to look back through our wedding photos. I thought I would post some of my favorites here on the blog today and share some of the details with you. Happy Anniversary, Love—what an incredible event to kick off our marriage together! Friends and extremely talented photographers, Mary and Adam Rosenbaum of Mary Rosenbaum Photographs documented the day—I can't say enough great things about not only their work but the people they are. Amazing.

Lovely and Local: Favorite East Nashville Destinations

East Nashville has become one of Music City's trendiest neighborhoods. Growing up in the Nashville area, I don't ever remember heading over the river into East Nashville and even now when I go I am still unaware of connecting streets. There are a handful of local businesses there now though that are definitely worth the drive. Here are a couple of my absolute favorite East Nashville haunts.

The "Nashville Cookie"

I recently spoke at the Keen Digital Summit about Food Styling (check out my 10 Food Styling Tips to Make Your Food Photographs Delicious). I really wanted to make something for the attendees of my session. Because most of the bloggers, small business owners and publisists that came to the conference were from out of town, I decided to make a "Nashville Cookie" to showcase some of Nashville's best ingredients.

Window Shopping Down Franklin's Main Street

With the seasons changing, I am suddenly energized to spruce up my home. Running down Franklin's Main Street yesterday, I had to stop and peer into some of my favorite home stores for a little inspiration. Franklin is chock-full of amazing boutiques and shops that I love to frequent. These are just some of my favorite home stores on Main Street. Here's a map to help when you go!
